Ingredients
Rose Tea:
½ cup Suncore Foods® Rose Buds
2 cups hot water
Rose Syrup:
½ cup rose tea
¼ cup + 2 tbsp granulated sugar
Iced Tea:
1 cup rose tea
1-2 tbsp rose syrup (to taste)
2 sweet pear slices, further sliced into 4-6 pieces length wise.
Ice
Garnish with 2-6 Suncore Foods® Rose Buds
Directions
1. Steep Rose Tea — Combine Suncore Foods® Rose Buds with hot water and set aside for 20 – 40 minutes. For enhanced color and flavor, steep the tea for 40 minutes. Using the back of a spoon, press down on the rose buds in order to extract maximum flavor. Strain the tea into a clean container and discard rose buds.
2. Rose Syrup — Add ½ cup of rose tea and ¼ cup of sugar to a saucepan. Bring to boil on medium-high heat. Boil for 2 minutes and reduce heat to medium-low. Continue to cook until the mixture starts to thicken, approximately 15 minutes, depending on the temperature. If the syrup takes too long to thicken, mix in the additional 2 tbsp of sugar.
3. Remove from heat and allow syrup to cool down completely. The syrup will continue to thicken as it cools. Use immediately or transfer to a container.
4. If the syrup has overcooked and starts to crystallize once cooled, place the container of syrup in a pot of hot water for 10-20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes until the syrup is liquid once again.
5. Iced Tea — Stir 1-2 tbsp of rose syrup with 1 cup of rose tea until well combined. In a fresh glass, place pear slices and rose buds over ice. Pour rose tea mixture and allow the iced tea to infuse for 2-5 minutes before serving. The sweeter the pears, the stronger the pear taste will be.
